TREE CARE INFORMATION
Your trees are living things and must be cared for properly in order for them to survive, thrive, and be healthy. Watering and Mulching properly is crucial to your trees health.

WATERING
Several factors determine how much to water your trees. They include: tree size, type of soil, weather conditions, and frequency of watering turf around trees. Watering deeply, thoroughly, and only as needed will encourage a deep and healthy root system.

Do not over water. More trees die from over watering than under watering. Always pull back mulch and check moisture content in soil before watering. Consult Arbor Hill Tree Farm for recommendations on your specific site.

MULCHING
The use of mulch around your trees will benefit it in many ways. A layer of several inches of a mulch material such as wood chips will help retain soil moisture and help to prevent wide fluctuations in soil temperature throughout the year.

Mulch also reduces weed growth around trees and prevents damage from lawn mowers and weed whips. As mulch decomposes, it adds valuable nutrients to the soil.

Maintain a 4-6" deep layer of mulch out about 1 ft. past the tree’s canopy. Keep the mulch back from the tree stem about 4". Mulch that is right up against the trunk keeps the root collar wet and may encourage mice to nibble trunk.
